About the Loan Calculator
This calculator supports three common loan structures: amortized loans with fixed periodic payments, deferred payment loans with one lump sum due at maturity, and bond-style loans where a future due amount is discounted back to an amount received today.
Amortized loan
Fixed payments are made periodically and each payment includes both interest and principal.
Deferred payment loan
No regular payment is made during the term. Principal and accumulated interest are paid at maturity.
Bond-style loan
A predetermined future amount is discounted back to estimate the amount received at the start.
How to use this calculator
Select the loan type, enter the amount, term, annual interest rate, compounding frequency, and payment frequency. Review payment amount, total interest, total repayment, and the schedule.
Compounding and payment frequency
Compounding controls how interest accumulates. Payment frequency controls how often payments are made. When they differ, the effective periodic rate is converted from the annual compounding assumption.
