About the Margin Calculator
This calculator combines three common financial uses of margin: product profit margin, stock trading margin, and currency exchange margin. The profit margin mode calculates cost, revenue, profit, margin, and markup. The trading modes estimate the equity or deposit required to open a position.
Profit margin
Profit margin compares profit with revenue. Higher margin means more of each sales dollar remains after cost.
Markup
Markup compares profit with cost. It is related to margin but uses a different denominator.
Trading margin
Stock and currency margin modes estimate the account amount needed based on position size and a margin requirement or leverage ratio.
